Note: Character pages (p002) of volumes 3-8 and 10 are the only pages that are leveled of the PDF exports.
What has been done more to the PDF rip;
- Covers, Table of Content pages and few other non-manga pages are of a lower prerendered resolution so are as-is unmodified from export.
- Insert pages of all volumes are replaced by a clean 600DPI export from volume 10 (text) and volume 8 (textless) for consistency.
- Created clean "To Be Continued In Volume X..." pages using the 600DPI export of volume 10, this removes a line on the right side and other inconsistencies.
- I removed two seemingly unnecessary insert pages at the end of the volume 10, as otherwise it were like 3 of those pages in near succession.
- All advertisement pages are cut away, waste of damn space, if left in as PNG they would increase the batch by another 400MB alone.
Kodansha K Manga Chapters;
- Renamed to add (Simulpub) to the name, as the chapter numbering is different than that of the volumes.
- One of the Senzuu chapter rips is the (f) variant but I accidentally removed the (f) in this batch.

Are the pdf scans better than the retail digital ones? I do not get it, I am definitely missing something.
That batch you linked to includes the rips from 1r0n's torrent https://nyaa.iss.one/view/2008311 and there you can see that they only did volumes 1-6 from PDF as seen by the height resolution in the table there -- as at that time there were only 6 available -- and I just re-exported the newer PDFs that included more volumes in the same manner. I wanted to re-read this series and noticed nobody did an export of the later available volumes.
Manga PDFs that are exported correctly, such as Humble Bundle, or in this case from Fanatical are the best quality of digital manga you can get, they can also be any resolution as they scale properly (well outside the few pages that are like prerendered in a fixed resolution). One could export them much higher than 600DPI, but really, it is not really feasible for devices or readers to export them at such a high resolution, so generally PDF exports are 600DPI found here on Nyaa. An upside is also that they are much lower in file size compared to lower resolution jpegs (or denoised jpegs for that matter) and they usually also are exported as proper black/white by the publishers instead of retail elevated CMYK blacks that we otherwise would need to level to get proper blacks again.
Many Kodansha USA titles that got a PDF release via Humble Bundle are usually used to upgrade the older retail rips if you look at the resolutions.
Euh what? No? All you did was just take two existing releases and made a single batch of them, which is fine ofc for those looking for single batch or when other batches aren’t properly seeded anymore.
These are exports from the Fanatical PDFs that I did myself (and tbh was already working on for a while) and are at least an direct upgrade for 1r0n’s volumes 7-11. Though I did some extra edits and removed the imo unnecessary advertisement pages reducing file size even more so they could also replace 1-6.
So no, not just what you did.
